DICTORIAL / V.) POGROM:

SONNENRAD is a project that operates beneath the banner of the
far/extreme right wing side. National Socialist subjects are the
main focus of the act, So if that isn't something you can get
passed then this is probably not a good choice for you. If you
can remain objective while enjoying it for what it is, Then you
might dig this. If your beliefs align with theirs and you are
into Noise then you'll most likely enjoy this one. Most of us
are somewhere in the middle and are able to listen to and enjoy
something whether or not you subscribe to the artists particular
view, Belief or lack thereof. Musically this tape presets five
tracks of raw Power Electronics/Harsh noise featuring smothered,
Caustic textures, Buried Blackened vocal rasps, WWII era samples
which place the listener right in the middle of the battlefield,
And other trademarks of these genres filtered through SONNENRAD's
own personal style. "New Empire" kicks things off taking us into
charred fields of Harsh Noise that feels like it's eating away at
the skeletal remains of fallen soldiers and civilians alike.
Cacophonous boomings mimic mortar fire in strictly timed intervals
that form a rhythmic aspect to the churning sub-textures. Grinding
drones seem to twist and writhe like gnawing rats. Vintage war time
spoken samples add an unknown narrative as tension builds and the
assault persists. Some time later we are shaken from the lulling
drone by the presence of deep, Sinister vocals in a brooding tone
until "The Axis Of Chaos" follows, Continuing in the style previously
laid down. This time much denser while also featuring motorized electronic
drones and what sounds like either rapid fire chain or machine guns
creating a very low/distant blast beat type background for the track
to expand upon. Once again we hear smothered explosive booming from
somewhere on the horizon. Loud enough to shake, Rumble and rattle
the earth...But quiet enough to be felt as an aftershock from a detonation
fairly far away. This does however get "closer" as the track continues
until details can be heard allowing you to determine which kinds of rounds
are being fired off nearby. German samples are once again included and outro
the track bringing us to "The Doctrine Of Self Will" where we hear solid slabs
of Harsh Noise laid on top of one another to create a platform for vocal delivery.
The vocals are low, Inhuman grunts through "wet" sound effects and other Alien
sounding effects and filters. The overall atmosphere is subdued, Yet very hostile.
Like hearing a plot against your life but having to remain absolutely silent while
creating a plan for undetected escape. Churning static waves crash down upon your
chances of survival as storms blow in from an enraged sky above. Attempting to
leave you wind-whipped and eroded to dust. This is the storm before the war.
"Dictorial" stays as bleak and grim as all previous tracks. An avalanche is
heard. It sounds as if it's obscured by monolithic mountains between it and
you. Enough to give you a head start but not enough to save you. Upon this
disastrous sound we hear deep, Blackened grunts and bitter speech vibrating
through the emptiness like a crowned tyrant belching commands to all below
it's feet. Each word resonates with solemn power. Extremely minimal and
absolutely hopeless. This album is very laid back and calculated rather
than just barking in your face like a snarling, Rabid animal as is usually
the case when it comes to National Socialist themed projects. "Pogrom" finishes
it off hitting like a powerful blizzard. Washed out and white washed static
coupled with grinding distortion. It all feels like it's spiraling right
towards you. The vocals are very similar to the previous track although
they seem to be slightly more upfront in the mix and have a little more
reverb clinging to them. Sonically combined this is controlled chaos pure
and simple. Varying movements can be heard within the endless blast. It's
hard to tell but it sounds like marching samples and possibly fighter planes
preparing an air raid/mass bombing. It also sounds like a large crowd screaming
in panic but you have to listen very closely. War is Hell. SONNENRAD is war.
