REVIEW: TEETH ENGRAVED (WITH THE NAMES OF THE DEAD)-STARVING THE FIRES PART I-CD

TEETH ENGRAVED (WITH THE NAMES OF THE DEAD)-STARVING THE FIRES PART I-CD
MALIGNANT RECORDS/TUMORCD74
BLACK NOISE/HARSH NOISE/DEATH AMBIENT
COMES IN A DVD STYLE CASE WITH INSERTS.
TEETH ENGRAVED IS:
DEE & MZ

I.) RADIANS:
Track one submerges the listener in a thick tar-like
darkness as black as ink and oil."Radians" breaths,
moves, crawls and drips. It sounds like the instruments
used to craft this nightmare were filth, rot and decay.
Howling feedback rises over murky sub-bass movement
like the peircing cries of vultures and other carrion.I think
this is what a boat ride across the river Styx might sound like.
Churning tides of bile and vomit rush as black winds howl through
the empty void that leads to eternal damnation.I highly recommend
this if you're into bands like FUNERARY CALL, BURIAL HEX, DEATHSTENCH,
T.O.M.B., ADERLATING and similar artists.Shifting sounds are heard from every
corner.Unseen creatures stir up dust as they creep around the shores.Every moment
here brings the feeling of something watching you.Something inhuman and full of
hate.TEETH ENGRAVED have mastered the art of creating a disturbing atmosphere.
This is the type of stuff to play late at night with the lights out.

II.) VITAL REACTION:
A moan of sub-bass rises from the depths as invisible claws scratch
at your flesh.Despondent drones lure you into the ether as you begin
to drift into the surreal dreamscape before you.Nocturnal birds are
heard far off in the distance and are soon joined by low spoken word
samples.Layers of deep synth work blend together invoking something
similar to sea sickness.Harsh grinding noises come from some distant
place of horror and remain just beyond the horizon.Wires burst below
your feet and fill the air with an electric current of deadly static. This
album feels like an invisible force determined to kill you...I think it
would be accurate to say that your impending doom will be slow and
agonizing.TEETH ENGRAVED combine elements of Dark Ambient,
Black Noise and Death Industrial to form a lethal mixture of the
blackest shades of sound the underground has to offer."Vital Reaction"
is an endless sea of misery.A slow struggle until your lungs are filled with
poison waters.Drink deep...This album is suicide in the form of sound.

III.) SHREDDED SKY/HUNG IN TATTERS:
"Shredded Sky" starts out with what sounds like rockets screaming
through a blood red skyline.Air raid signals cry loudly as the static
tension of all out war builds all around you.Pitch black vocals filtered
through heavy distortion and walls of static add fuel to the fire...This
shit is intense, dark and utterly crushing. It sounds something like a
mix of WHORID and DEMONOLOGISTS if they collaborated together
while being pissed the fuck off and full of hate.Feedback rises and fills
the air along with what sounds like an all out swarm of pestillence. This
is how I'd imagine the Biblical plagues described during Armageddon to
sound like.Noise as thick as ash blots out the sun and chokes the oxygen
from the air.TEETH ENGRAVED create tracks that are filled with venom
and toxic to all human life.Audio genocide to bring the dreams of the
misanthropes of the world to fulfillment.Comparrisons can be drawn
to an early SUTEKH HEXEN but much darker and atagonistic. There
are not many bands who can make songs that sound this hateful and
life threatening. This is abuse.Shut up and take it.

IV.) LACERATE:
A vortex of harsh noise and angry feedback forms and writhes it's way
up from out of the depths.Disease ridden winds cut at your ears and
forcefully enter your mind.Your head spins as it is filled with vile toxins
that lacerate the senses. This is dangerous stuff boys and girls.Crunching
distortion gives way to droning feedback and monolithic sub-bass passages.
Mournful cries stretch over huge churning doom riffs.Think "Black One" era
SUNN O))) meets DEATHSTENCH...A bloodbath of bile and decay.Like drowning
in an endless sea of pure despondency and the waste of countless corpses. There is
a thin veil of fragile beauty that hovers over the track...Like mourning spirits that
can only watch but offer no aid as their tears fall into the infinite pit of despair. The
type of track that gives you chills and makes you uneasy at the same time.Like a life
threatening feaver that brings strange visions of cruelty and torment. As time goes by
everything feels like it is closing in on you more and more...Ending just before it crushes
you...Your suffering is not complete.

V.) BROKEN FROM INSIDE:
Glacial riffs and heavily distorted vocals.Asphyxiated screams over distorted
rhythms that roll like thunder and tremble like earthquakes.Again I am reminded
of "Black One" era SUNN O))) but with a more LEVIATHAN/DRAUGAR sort of style
vocally...If you weren't broken before hearing this, you will be before it is over. The vocals
take on various forms and come like a myriad of faceless daemons in the pitch black atmospheres
that are conjured forth here.Croaking and moaning from throats as dry as the desert sands. It sounds
like you have entered a secret city neath the blistering dunes.A place inhabited by corpse eating ghouls
and nameless horrors.TEETH ENGRAVED have created a Lovecraftian nightmare. This is by far the angriest
track on the album."Broken From Inside" is a slow blast of rage and fury over a battlefield laced in nocturnal
ejaculations. This whole album is a festering pile of rot and sickness and this is no exception.

VI.) WHEN STORMS COME:
Melancholic synths linger in the distance as raging winds gather.Feedback cuts like
jagged knives as the dreary atmospheres invoked here fill your wounds and sew them
shut from the inside. There is a lot of emotion packed into this track...Though they are
often hidden under the massive blasts of black static...They still find a way to crawl up
your spine and shake you from the inside.Sinister beauty that descends upon you in blood
red drops of woe...A sign that the storm has arrived.Stripped and minimal noise in all it's
raw glory hanging like midwinter fog over deep, passionate synths. It sounds like a funeral
taking place withing a raging furnace."When Storms Come" is a little over 25 minutes in
length...Plenty of time to fill your spirit and leave you bummed out for days to come.Hazy
and obscured synth leads rage like trumpets at the battle of Armageddon...In a way the contrasting
tones and textures kind of feel like a war between the Heavens and the rotten pits of the Earth. Both
struggling for dominion and for the full surrender of the listener.I've always seemed to prefer it when
albums end on a long and drawn out display of intense emotion and haunting beauty and I am pretty
happy right now...I don't know what the fact that something that sounds this miserable can make me
happy says about me, but I really don't care. When a track stabs you right in the heart and rejoices in
a chorus of static as your very essence pours out of the wound I am all for it! Theatrical and noisy as
fuck...A perfect ending to a pretty damn good release.

MALIGNANT RECORDS HAVE NEVER LET ME DOWN.ANOTHER GREAT RELEASE THAT
FEELS RIGHT AT HOME ON THIS LABEL.I HEARD SOME DEMO'S FROM THESE GUYS
BEFORE THEY RELEASED THIS AND THOUGHT THEY HAD POTENTIAL...IT'S GREAT
TO SEE HOW THEY HAVE GROWN AND I AM EXCITED TO SEE WHERE TEETH ENGRAVED
GO FROM HERE.WE EAGERLY AWAIT STARVING THE FIRES PART II:
