SIDE A:

I.) BLACKENED EARTH BENEATH BAREFEET /
II.) LED ASTRAY / III.) STRUGGLING ETERNAL:

Something stirs and crawls it's way out of a deep and dreadful
dead silence.Your senses are flooded with a feeling of aproaching
danger and impending doom.Decayed drones arise and form reaching
claws of darkness...They tend to the soil and prepare the earth as a fresh
grave for the listener.SARNATH invites us into a realm of Lo-Fi desolation
where nothing grows and nothing lives.Offering massive slabs of churning
Blackened Noise and bleak combined with utterly bleak and dreary ambient
passages.Sort of like DEATHSTENCH or STEMCELL RESEARCH PROJECT if
they recorded on DARKTHRONE's gear in the 90's.Walls of hissing steam and
raging sub-bass storms appear and form an intense vortex around the room.
Haunting drones close in and strip the paint from the walls until all is decay
and dilapidation.Great beasts dwell within the storm and offer their wails to
aid in the bringing of terror. The ground quakes in violent vibration as the dead
rip their way through the floorboards.Apparently Hell is full and the overflow has
come to your house. This is very similar to stuff like TEETH ENGRAVED WITH THE
NAMES OF THE DEAD...Pitch black and ominous. The earth it'self becomes a carrion
pit with countless mouths...Each attempting to swallow you whole in unison.Minimal
drones shamble through empty rooms like nameless abominations with no sense of
direction or purpose. They simply exist...Damned to wander eternally in search of a
way out where there is none.Woeful and endless.Like blind maggots crawling through
an ever expanding place of rot. There are no percussions...No vocals...Just endless waves
of woe in a sea of infinite misery...Like meditation music but without all the hopefull
new age bullshit. This is the sound of accepting one's mortallity. The sinking feeling that
comes with the realization that the slow process of death began with your first breath.
Streaming winds and what sounds like muffled and distant guitar work blend together
in a blur of sub-bass rhythm.Voices begin to appear and come as painful screams that
struggle to be heard from within the place that holds them...A house built on decaying
corpses upon a foundation of dead earth. The blackened screams add to the thick
atmosphere of utter despondency that we have dwelt thus far...Slight traces of feedback
mingle with layered vocals of agony to increase the intensity of your suffering.Like a slow
and painful death at the hands of a crippling disease that eats you alive from the inside out.
Flies begin to gather as the buzzing drone of their wings fills the air...Like fragile angels come
to carry you away on the wings of pestilence. The shuffling of vermin joins them as they dig
through the giant trash heap that is your final resting place.Crashing cymbals come like
sudden thunder as a slow rhythm arises and forms a death march.Funeral Doom meets Black
Ambient. This is your funeral procession. No mourners to be seen and yet misery abounds.R.I.P.

SIDE B:

IV.) SCARS AS MAPS / V.) TRAILS INTO THE FURNACE /
VI.) BECOMING ASH/RETURNING HOME:

Death has come to fuck you again and he's not pulling out.Crashing percussions
and phased out noise fill the air...Again we have the essence of the darkest Funeral
Doom but channeled through the hands of a noise fiend on a mission to spread despair
to the world.SARNATH takes what has been around and creates a unique experience
that metal heads and rivet heads alike can enjoy.Reverb hangs in the winds and delay
shrouds the air to form a cloak of nocturnal movement and stillness all at once.If you
listen closely you can almost hear the speech of insects as they practice their nightly
rituals and recite their ancient invokations beneath the pale glow of the moon.If SARNATH
continues in this direction I can see this being right at home on a label like Malignant Records.
Otherworldly sounds and cosmic pulses are channeled down from the stars to create an atmosphere
of awe and wonder.Deep grinding synths add even more substance followed by thick sub-bass rhythms
to bring it all home. This sounds like the very vibrations of distant constellations cascading to earth like
an inverted Aurora Borealis.Scraping noise and feedback hide in the distance but their presence is still
known. This is a little heavier than the A side but by no means overbearing.Everything builds and grows
but without consuming the tones and textures that were before...Only complimenting the peice more
with each new layer. The sound is huge and chaotic but never sloppy or unorganized.Every tone knows
it's purpose and fulfills it to the fullest. This sounds composed, constructed and very well thought out.
Pulsing bass movements and large gusts of wind arrive and carry you along. This not only takes you
for a ride through the darker regions of sound...But it also does all the work for you so you can just
sit back and soak it all in...That is not to say that it doesn't challenge the listener...Just not to the
point that it takes the enjoyment out of it.I will be honest...When I first saw the album and looked
at the cover...I didn't have very high expectations...I was wrong...This just goes to show that you can
never judge an album by it's presentation alone...And honestly where would the underground be if
not for DIY artists and labels like the ones involved here? SARNATH is an all consuming black mass
that knows no bounds.Slow but relentless.Giant rhythms crash against one another like titans in an
epic battle. This struggle will be eternal as it continues long after it fades into silence. As most of you
know...What I look for most in any noise oriented release is composition and movement.Without these
key elements they often seem to be lacking...Even in an improvised session these can be achieved to great
effect.SARNATH is not lacking in these departments.Everything that makes a great noise or ambient release
is present here. The slow build ups...The monolithic drones...The well thought application of distortion. The
timing and placement of various tones and textures. The vocals and most importantly originality.Nothing is
missing and everything is done in a manner that just fucking works.Beatifully haunting drones cry out from
above like the tragic songs of mournful angels. They hang in the air like a child holding tightly to a dead pet
with tear filled eyes.Brutallity and beauty both have their place here. There are black clouds and rising suns.
The level of emotion conveyed with the use of very little words is astonishing. The album cover makes this
look like it's going to be some B movie inspired Black Metal album with nothing much to offer.Looks can
be very decieving.
