SIDE A.) BEREFT:

I.) YOU DON'T REPRESENT ME / II.) I WILL NOT ASSIMILATE:

So BEREFT (Which features Andrew Grant of THE VOMIT ARSONIST)
offer up two concrete slabs of punishing and in your face Power Electronics.
These guys are relentless here with a go for the throat and rip it the fuck
our approach.Bitter contempt and disgust are the order of the day and
they are bringing two full servings for you to choke on.Track one starts
out with low electronic drones that slowly gain momentum.Static and
feedback begin to rise from the background.Suddenly huge blasts of rock
hard industrial percussion arrive along with distorted screams that lash
out in anger and echo with hate.Musically this is similar to GNAWED but
slowed down and less chaotic.Structured violence to help you digest their
message. The drums take a tribal/marching sort of turn and plod along as
the vocals begin to sound like a rallying speech to prepare troops for war
on all that was once accepted and tolerated. This sounds like a man who
is fed up and has had enough.Time for action.Streams of feedback fill the
air like rockets in mid-flight.Noise churns on and rolls out like the gears
and wheels of a tank on the way to aid to the cause. The lyrics are delivered
like a personal letter to some unfortunate bastard.Track two is equally fierce
and begins in a similar manner to the first.Low dense noise spills out over the
wreckage left behind by track one. Then a second onslaught of pure rage begins.
Again we have huge industrial percussions and assaulting layers of feedback.
Metallic drums are beaten without mercy,..No...Not your bullshit aluminum
trash can Slipknot drums...More like large empty oil drums being smashed
with sledge hammers in a militant rythm. The vocals are still pissed but a
little more restrained...Like Peter Lee is grinding his teeth while speaking.
Saving and collecting his disgust for the perfect time to unleash it for maximum
devestation. Here BEREFT is a well oiled machine set to kill.Everything winds
down as the last few lines are said in declaration.Mission accomplished.Pack it
up soldiers.

SIDE B.) F/I/T/H:

III.) THE GREAT DECEIVER / IV.) IN HIS GARDEN /
V.) MY RIGHT.YOUR WRONG / VI.) REMOVE THE GAUZE /
VII.) SODOM EYES:

FIRE IN THE HEAD gives us five songs that blend together and flow as one.
Where BEREFT chose to take a relentless and brutal approach.F/I/T/H do
things quite differently. All the rage and anger is matched perfectly but with
F/I/T/H Michael Page has a much different and quite unique approach.
One thing you will learn if you are new to this project is that no one else
sounds like F/I/T/H...Sadly Mr. Page has moved on from this project and
now records under the name SKY BURIAL...Not that I have any complaints
regarding his current output...But F/I/T/H will be missed for sure. But either
way the tracks remain as a monument to originality in Power Electronics.
Harsh drones so thick you can cut them with a knife.Warped strands of alien
sound. What sounds like fragile chimes time-stretched to oblivion.Psychic knives
that slice deep into the listeners mind.Cosmic winds and just all together interesting
sounds are what make up the first few moments of the B side.Grinding noise like metal
pipes being dragged across concrete floors.Crunching distortion. The amount of layers
and textures that go into a single F/I/T/H song are impressive...Whats even more impressive
is the way they are structured and executed with flawless composition. At times this can be
very disorienting...Like being trapped in a house of mirrors filled with some kind of nerve
gas...Not deadly...But not healthy either...The vocals sound like they are screamed through
a throat that is alive with electricity...Words hiss fourth from a tongue made of live wires.
Michael Page sounds like some sort of pissed off transformer...Or decepticon rather as this
in no way sounds like something here to save humanity.Buzzing static fills the air as vocals
come like gathering clouds of toxic steam.Samples of a drill sargent with a sense of humor
give you a moment to breath before the next attack.Screams of "My right.Your wrong" lash
out in utter violence as looped samples command you to be faithful to the electric beast that
is FIRE IN THE HEAD...Dark ambience floods the senses sending you spiraling deep into a void
that manifested from nowhere.Harsh static winds whip your flesh in a frenzy.Distant objects clang
together and echo through the negative space.Grinding blades send sparks falling like great rapids.
Electric pulses begin to rise as the most vicious vocals so far come from out of nowhere.Guns fire in
every direction like a wild west shootout.Harsh noise and strange otherworldly tones gather and
band together.Chainsaws rev up in unison and carve your mind to shreds and then we fall into silence.
GAME OVER.

BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST SPLITS WE HAVE EVER REVIEWED...I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS
ENOUGH...THERE ARE ABOUT AS MANY COPIES IN PRINT AS THERE ARE FANS OF THIS TYPE
OF THING SO ALL OF YOU SHOULD ADD ONE TO YOUR COLLECTIONS.DON'T SLEEP ON THIS
ONE...IT'S A MUST HAVE...YOU CAN CALL US BIASED OR YOU CAN SHUT THE FUCK UP AND
GIVE THIS A LISTEN:

9.5/10
